The Antofagasta region is located in the centre of the world’s largest driest desert the Atacama, north of Chile. Antofagasta and El Loa provinces are surrounded by the desert and mountains. The Atacama Desert size is around 105,000 square km and it is covered by the Andes mountains this connection is truly amazing.
Calama is the capital of El Loa Province, City which is home for workers employed at the largest copper mine in Chile and by other numerous mines. Near to Calama, there is a town named San Pedro de Atacama, what is in the middle of the Atacama Desert and it is often perceived as the driest place in the world.
It was also a photographic challenge for me to photograph landscapes.
